AmikaNow! and eManage Announce Strategic Partnership

Joint email management solutions demonstrated at AIIM Conference (Booth #2337)
New York, May 1, 2001 - AmikaNow!, a leader in email management tools driven by intelligent content interpretation software and eManage Inc., a leading provider of integrated email and records management solutions, today announced a strategic technology and product partnership that will allow the companies to jointly develop and integrate complementary products. The companies have also agreed to combine marketing initiatives and share sales activities.
Electronic messaging systems are used to conduct business discussions and carry out decisions and actions. They have become the communication medium of choice within organizations. A growing proportion of messages are official corporate records that need to be subjected to the same legal and regulatory requirements for retention and disposition as any other corporate record. The DoD 5015.2 certified eManage software provides comprehensive structured email management and records management functionality. It systematically captures electronic messages from Microsoft® Exchange, classifies the messages as records within the corporate file classification, and applies corporate retention and disposition rules. eManage is the first and only product certified to the DoD standard that uses Microsoft Exchange Server as a source and repository of records.
A key issue with enterprise-level structured email management solutions is the classification of ever-increasing volume of corporate email records with the minimal amount of human intervention. eManage has a handcrafted rules-based auto-classification engine that classifies email based on metadata and content. AmikaNow! will offer its AmikaHighlighter content interpretation engine to augment the built-in autoclassification capabilities of eManage. The AmikaHighlighter makes use of embedded artificial intelligence software to identify keywords, phrases and sentences to form abbreviated text. The output of the AmikaHighlighter will also be used to generate summaries of email, adding the ability to search through email summaries to eManage's software.
"Fast access and retrieval of key documents embedded in email are vital to enterprise customers who are being deluged with increasing volumes of information," said Sue Abu-Hakima, AmikaNow!'s Founder and CEO. "Daily, eight billion emails are exchanged on the Internet with six billion in the United States alone. Email has a significant impact on corporate record keeping, and must be retained for legal and financial tracking and internal communication use. For these reasons, we view this partnership with eManage as key in our objective of facilitating the efficient use of relevant email in the enterprise."
"The support of AmikaHighlighter with the eManage Autoclassification Engine further enhances our ability to address enterprise email management requirements and adds tangible benefits to our clients," said Dr. Yaser Abaza, Senior Vice President, Eng. & Operations of eManage. "The AmikaHighlighter's sophisticated pattern identification algorithms and summarization techniques offer our customers the benefits of additional features integrated with our award winning structured email management product."
